Brococo Paris Japan Event: A Memorable Experience in November

In November, we hosted our very first Brococo Paris event in Japan, a wonderful opportunity made possible thanks to Mio from Mon Caprice. It was an honor to collaborate with Mio, who kindly proposed this event to align with our visit to Japan. Her passion for French art and culture was a great source of inspiration during the planning process.

Brococo Paris is a project by Joffrey and Makoto, based in Paris, where we share the beauty of French arts, antiques, and table styling on Instagram. Our online shop specializes in vintage and antique French pieces, including tableware, decorative items, and other unique interior items. With a deep love for the era of Marie Antoinette, we plan to further expand our collection with motifs inspired by that time.

The event took place at Mon Caprice's exquisite salon in Tokyo, a space known as "Petit Trianon in Tokyo," lovingly redesigned in the style of the Petit Trianon at Versailles by Keiko from StyleK (For more about Mio and her work at Mon Caprice, please visit her website: Mon Caprice). This enchanting setting was the perfect location to explore 18th-century Sèvres porcelain through an engaging lecture, followed by a tea-time session featuring table styling by Joffrey.

During the lecture, we delved into the artistry of Sèvres porcelain, one of Marie Antoinette's most cherished art forms. Sharing its timeless beauty and allure with participants brought us immense joy. For the tea-time that followed, Joffrey presented a unique table styling themed "Writing Poetry." We creatively combined pieces featuring the same motifs found on Sèvres porcelain owned by Marie Antoinette. Through this styling, we hoped to inspire our guests to embrace creativity and explore a sense of adventure when setting a table, focusing on what delights their guests most.

One of the highlights of the event was meeting participants who were eager to learn, taking notes during the lecture and actively engaging in discussions. Their warm feedback was truly inspiring and deeply appreciated. The salon was bathed in beautiful natural light that day, creating a magical atmosphere. We were also joined by our dear friend Keiko from StyleK in the afternoon session, adding a special warmth to the occasion (To learn more about Keiko and her beautiful interior design work at StyleK, visit her website: StyleK). This event felt like a serendipitous meeting brought together by our shared admiration for Marie Antoinette—Mio from Mon Caprice, Keiko from StyleK, and us at Brococo Paris.

Looking ahead, we hope to collaborate again with Mio and Keiko whenever we return to Japan. The world of 18th-century French porcelain is vast, with many more fascinating topics to explore beyond Sèvres. We look forward to connecting with more like-minded individuals and fostering a vibrant appreciation for the arts and culture of this extraordinary era.
