This elegant porcelain plate was crafted in the early 19th century by the renowned Duc d’Angoulême manufactory in Paris. It features a delicate cornflower (Barbeaux) motif, reminiscent of the refined designs found in 18th-century French porcelain. The cornflower motif was particularly fashionable in the late 18th century.

As a historical note, the patron of the Duc d’Angoulême manufactory was none other than the Duke of Angoulême, husband of Marie-Thérèse, the eldest daughter of Marie Antoinette. This plate was created around the time she returned to France from her long exile during the Bourbon Restoration.

Note: The last two photos show 18th-century pieces from the Duc d’Angoulême manufactory, currently on display at the Louvre Museum.
